My Lumix LX5 is starting to misbehave which would provide legitimacy to my desire for a Sony RX 100 V but the RX 100 V has been out for18 months and I'm wondering if a VI is just around the corner which might be better or at least push down the price of the V.

I heard the LX3, LX5, and LX7 are the very best of the Compacts.
I really like the LX5 but the mode switch is acting up, the zoom motor is dragging, and the lens won't focus through my spotting scope. The RX100 will focus and has 4K video which will make wildlife photography easier. On the other hand, I really want the new Lumix RC G9 but it costs more than twice what the RX100 V costs and isn't pocketable. But I still want it. I want to buy both but I also want to retire someday.
