Ugh I hate how anything in Linux never can't be easy.

Trying to install Debian and it won't even detect the cdrom. YOU FUCKING BOOTED OFF OF IT YOU IDIOT! To be fair I've seen Windows do that shit too.

Now to spend hours googling and troubleshooting something stupid. Probably end up just trying another distro.

Ha Ha , I've had that problem a few times 🙂

Might end up having to do that. Not a fan of netinstallers as they cease to work once they pull down the servers, but come to think of it it's rare I want to install an older version of Linux anyway. I dd'ed the image to another USB stick and will try it to see if by chance it was the stick itself, but it was brand new.

Well that's a no go, it won't even boot now.

I really don't want to have to burn a DVD. Ugh... I'm not really properly setup for that. And that might fail too, then I wasted media.

I got a letter - just this morning - it was postmarked Omaha ...
Damn ,50 years and I still have My fathers records going thru My brain ... what little I have left of it 🙂

You Linux guys. I've installed a Debian distro in Virtual Box for shits and giggles. I like doing some configuring, but with Linux you are constantly finding solutions for problems that shouldn't exist. I don't mind spending some time doing configuring. Just not all the time.

I like Linux because you're not depending on proprietary software but I totally agree I sometimes ask myself why I make my life harder lol. Everything that would be 1 click in windows ends up being 100x more complicated in Linux. There's a few things that it's better at though, like I prefer SSH over RDP, much more secure and less of a bandwidth hog when dealing with slower links.

Going to try to put the ISO on my cdrom emulator drive and see how that goes.

Yay my Zalman HDD ISO emulator drive wins again. I don't know why this is not more popular tbh. It's a drive enclosure that you put a hard drive in, but it gives you the option of adding ISOs to it and then you can select one and emulate a cdrom drive. So when you plug it in the computer it thinks there's a cdrom drive with a disc in it.

Still early to celebrate though as it's not done installing but I got further than with the USB stick.

Getting a little cold.

Living Room: 16.1875°C (=)
Hallway: 20.1875°C (=)
Server Room: 19.5°C (-)
HVAC Return: 15.25°C (-)
HVAC Supply: 16°C (-)
Outside: -28°C (+)
Delta Temp: 0.75°C

Outdoor temp according to Weather Network (probably more accurate than my sensor) : -30°C Feels like -44

Removed all the other drives and set that one primary now I just get tons of errors then dumped into a busy box shell. What a pain. Think I'm just going to do CentOS, it never gives me this much trouble.
