That's a good router as far as consumer ones go. I have one for my Fibre Op with a custom firmware on it, since it has a feature to do passthrough for the internet and also handles the TV. with the Actiontec I was stuck with a double NAT.

Downside is now that it is doing passthrough, it's technically a layer 2 device. No idea how I'd make any changes if I wanted to as it has no IP address to connect to. But it's worked flawlessly since it was put in service so never had to touch it.

Not sure why I'm so tired. Probably all the errands I ran today, I find that can be exhausting especially with the crazy traffic. I don't know how people do it in big cities, I think the traffic here can be nuts it's only a fraction of what it's like in a big city.

I don't know what it's called, but it was a firmware specifically for FibreOP, as it has the special handling required for the TV service to work. Normally you need to use the provided Actiontec router which the PVR and internet plugs into but then you have a double NAT since it has like no options and I still want to use Pfsense. So with this custom firmware I can skip the Actiontec completely and the firmware does everything the Actiontec does for TV to work, but also has feature to pass thru internet.

If ever I cancel my TV service I could skip this router too and plug internet straight into PFsense. I just need to set the WAN vlan to like 35 or something, I forget.

Though with the whole Intel backdoor thing, I almost wonder if it would be more secure to stick a SOHO router before my internet anyway... That or I could get one of those Netgate boxes, I think they are ARM based and I'm not aware of any backdoors on ARM... yet.

It didn't do anything when I tried it. I still had a double NAT. The ActionTec is also very slow. The menu on the TV was super slow, I did not realize at the time but it was because of the ActionTec. With the Asus it's way faster to go through the guide. I hate how ISPs force you to use their equipment and then cheap out on it.

Yeah they like the cheap shit. Why bother with tv?

Running some removable storage backup jobs. Just realized it's been close to a year since the last time I ran some lol. These are the last resort backups if everything else fails.

The cashier at the store yesterday was interesting to look at. Her age was indeterminate, and she had a big red bow in her hair. Makeup was caked on. She looked old, and young, cute, and weird, retro, and frumpy. Not sure what to make of her, but I enjoyed our brief interaction. I could have sat there and just watched her, but that would be weird :^D

Well, spent 22 minutes waiting for AT&T customer service so I can identify which sim card goes in which phone. After I hung up, I turned off my phone and ejected the sim card. Went to pop the new one in and... drumroll... it was too big! Not kidding. They sent me the wrong sim card. I needed a nano sim card and what they sent me was not it. So, I wasn't going to spend another 22 minutes on hold trying to get a hold of customer service. You can see how they value you once you agree to become their customer. Sad. So, I called their sales department and got through immediately. After about 20 minutes of discussion, I believe I have everything taken care of. Now, just need to receive the new sim cards. *fingers crossed*

I don't know anything about it, but I've heard of people trimming sim cards with a razor knife. Might be something to try. It already doesn't work. It won't not work any worse.

Setting up a web SDR. I've had the equipment for a while and just never bothered to play with it till now. Was an impulse purchase. Also got a down converter to get into the HAM bands. Hopefully this installs easily and does not have tons of dependencies and crap.

Raspberry Pi with a RTL-SDR type dongle. ANd a "ham it up" converter. Did not hook that up yet. I got a small desk antenna from an ADS-B receiver (using the bigger antenna for mine) so I'll probably use that. Depending how serious I get with the setup I might tie into the cable TV coax that goes outside then hook up an antenna on the roof. Maybe something that just clamps on the gutters. I do eventually want to get into ham radio and setup a small tower. That would be fun.

I got my beard trimmed today, it feels so different now, I can't stop playing with it. It's like if the hairs are more rigid. Almost like a push broom.

I normally trim it myself, but I was at the barber for a haircut so figured I'd get them to do it. Went with number 5.

It's not just a poorly made card that needs filing to fit in. It's a different size altogether. AT&T sent me micro sim cards and our phones require a nano sim card.
