I mentioned RGB LED light strips across/under the soffit to an installer yesterday. Let's See ... security camera , facial recognition software , and it can do red/white/blue while playing the star spangled banner or flashing red with a cop siren !

Menards. That sounded familiar. I had stopped in a Menards to pick some Sparky's Sauce when I was in Omaha around Thanksgiving 2015. Where are you at?

Menard's is a home improvement store like Home Depot.
I live in the most corrupt state by far , Illinois , or as we spell it here "Ill Noise". 3 out of 4 of our governors went to PRISON for god's sake. Yep , the sphincter of the USA :)

I don't have a problem with Illinois. I have a cousin that lives in Chicago and loves it. I also have relatives in Peoria and Springfield.

Arduino is fairly straight forward. So it could be a fun project.
