I insisted to my father that we try my Grand Prix wheels on my sisters Grand Am... and lo! they fit! So we have a free second set of wheels for her car.

Bad news... when we pulled the RF wheel, we found it coated with transmission oil. The trans cooler lines are rotted away. There's tranny oil freaking everywhere, the underbody is coated, the wheel is dark and slick, the suspension components are covered, and it's dripping steadily.

There is no way to check the fluid level, so we don't know how long it's been going on.

If it had been my father or I with that problem, we'd have known. The oil essentially flooded the inner face of the wheel, then sprayed onto the outer face of the tire. It looks like black flames eating the tire from inside edge outwards. So either of us would have seen the unusual pattern, and located the problem (well, in my case, told him, and we'd check it out).

The hope is that this didn't damage the transmission, but even still, we're guessing $50 per cooler line, need two of those, plus 2.5 gallons of fluid.

My car has some new dings in the front end and bumper, courtesy of several hours on the highway. Fucking soft Nissan paint.

I also bumped into a snow pile behind a parking space, and the paint got scratched from that. Again, fucking soft Nissan paint.

There's a oily looking smudge on the left rear door, and no scrubbing removed it. I could try claying it, but then I'd have to redo double coat of sealant and double coat of wax right there.

Finally, I have some new dings on the door guards, meaning, despite my assiduous determination to park far from people, park in corners and tuck against the curbs, some asshats are still hitting my car with their fucking doors, because they're inconsiderate and incompetent worthless fucktards.

So I should have a new CC soon, with a $300 cash back bonus after first purchase.

With that combined in, my winter tires will drop from $600 to $300. Winter tires will probably be Michelin X-Ice Xi2. Nicer on clear roads than Blizzak WS-70's, lesser in snow. They'll still be better than my worn-out WS-50's were on a 12 year old FWD vehicle.

Last January, I managed just fine despite near record snowfall. If I knew that were coming again, I'd go WS-70 over Xi2. But other than January, the snow was minor, it was mostly just occasional slush, some ice, and lots of cold clear road. Slush and ice are pretty equal between the two tires.

Of course, the snow tire I really want is Conti EWC, but those aren't available again until the end of the year. They also are wonderful all over, except for a random poor performance for dry braking (it's very strange). I also have a strong suspicion Michelin will release the Xi3 next season, but I need snows for this season.

The choice is obvious for my father's car, he does a ton of highway driving, and the Xi2 will beat the WS-70 on clear roads, much quieter, more civilized.

Anyways, my old wheels aren't getting sold now, which means I don't get the money from them (they're about $150-$200 for the set), I'll sell the rubber from them, but that's gonna be like... $100?

If I sold my Yoko's, I could probably get another $150.

There's $250, to go looking for a $400 set of wheels and $600 set of rubber, with no solution for the stupid TPMS sensors.

disable it then.

Tires should be made of solid resin any how not an envelope depending on a gas to maintain their shape.
