I bought some proper tape and going to try to rewind that transformer with better isolation between layers. Also going to push my luck and go to a single primary turn. Then feed that baby up with 12 volts. I don't think the mosfet is going to like that very much, might have to up the switching frequency. :p

Idealy I want to get it going on 5 or so volts. No real plans, I just wanted to make a battery operated high voltage device for shits and giggles. I want to see if I can get nice enough arcs for a jaccob's ladder. A jaccob's ladder powered by a couple AA batteries just seems so hilarious so I want to do it.

Knowing me I WOULD try it with my fingers. Not tongue though, not that crazy. :p

I can also confirm those cheap mosquito zapper rackets don't have a bleed resistor. Ouch. Well they probably do, but it probably takes more than a few seconds to discharge. :p

I was also having fun freaking out a friend by discharging it with my keys. "how are you not getting shocked?".

Speaking of high voltages, electronic mouse traps sound like a fun territory to venture in too as I do have an issue in my attic... but I rather not burn my house down if something goes wrong. lol. I could have it monitor the current and when it detects a change for a certain duration it would trigger an alarm so I know I caught one.
