Small hurricane ni

120 miles west of here, Hermine really isn't doing much atm here except making things gray and rainy.

See what happens when it hits up near the panhandle, at least it's just barely a hurricane.

It will probably be clear here once the weekend rolls around, the weather is usually very nice after a hurricane. I just hope no up at the bend there gets hit too hard.

If I lived in Florida, I would probably keep a ton of sandbags around all the time. Waiting until theres an emergency is too late.

Fortunately, I bought a house on one of the highest spots in Pinellas County decades ago a few miles from the beach. It never floods, the only thing I have had to worry about sandbags for would be the back door on the Florida room. The roof tends to drain off fast there.

I hadn't looked to see what the storm surge might be doing in some areas, some people have house in areas that are around sea level or barely above it.

It's pretty quiet around here for a hurricane in the area but looks it's moved off. Was barely one to begin with and there was a lot of wind shear busting it up.

My old 18 lb Orange Tigah was screaming at me a bit, I plunked him down by mama in the bedroom for belly rubs :)

Yeah, nose bonks are a bit rare, I get them occasionally.

Been raining a lot here too. They did an A/C job at my work and they had to wait a few days to continue. It's hilarious, they installed two 30 ton units like 2 years ago, it's a high end system, suppose to be all fancy and automated and use outside air when it can etc... but they keep running into issues. We started getting leaks in spring, turns out they did not install the units properly on the roof and with the snow it was causing water to leak through where they were installed. So they had to take them down and build a proper base for them. So they did that job this week between the rain. That meant draining the vacuum lines, cutting, rebrasing, recharging etc... I'd be scared to know how much that job cost. They even had a crane on site lol. That alone can't be cheap.

When in doubt, hire the cheapest installer.

Pretty much... though TBH the installers seemed like big enough competent companies. Problem is the units arn't even designed to be ducted but the company went with them anyway. Though the roof job is mostly the installer's fault. I always thought the idea of a flat roof was weird though. It's asking for trouble especially when you start making penetrations into it.

my mom originally wanted to go with the lowest bidder but eventually was persuaded to go with one of the more expensive companies. Not only did they do a poor job, it ended up being quite a bit more expensive than the estimate.

But the units were nice, Trane AC, coil, and furnace.
