Teppanyaki (鉄板焼き teppan-yaki?) is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan (鉄板), which means iron plate, and yaki (焼き), which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. In Japan, teppanyaki refers to dishes cooked using an iron plate, including steak, shrimp, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and monjayaki.
Modern teppanyaki grills are typically propane-heated flat surface grills and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at restaurants. Teppanyaki grills are commonly confused with the hibachi barbecue grill, which has a charcoal or gas flame and is made with an open grate design.[1] With a solid griddle type cook surface, the teppanyaki is more suitable for smaller ingredients, such as rice, egg, and finely chopped vegetables.

Interesting the monitor I was trying to fix seems to be working, the wave form of the backlight PSU was all weird before, I was not sure if that was normal or not, but now it's a nice square wave, and the monitor backlight is not flickering. I could not tell before if it was flickering or not as I had nothing connected to it. I have such a tiny work bench that it was hard to get something connected to it but I finally managed to try and by moving stuff around it seems to work, but I can't get the flat flex to stay in properly so the video display is all messed.

Think I'm going to consider this monitor a write off anyway though, I can't get that flat flex to stay put and even if I do it will be so touchy that a little bump and it will go out of place again. Was fun to mess around with it anyway.

Hmmm I think the original issue may actually be the flat flex and not the backlight. The way the flat flex is connecting seems to determine if the backlight is on or off as the control board does tell it to go on or off (ex: when nothing is plugged in it just goes to sleep mode). So the original issue may be the control board and/or flat flex and not the backlight itself.

If I had the patience I could resolder the individual wires and probably get it working.
