I find the "other consideration" of the scarce usage of the navigation to be rather compelling. I also note that with my phone being present, out of date (2006) maps are not a major concern, and the phone can type faster - though it won't load inputs faster.

Actually, the GPS is going to get a workout tomorrow - I need to go to south campus.

This... is nice. Last spring, if I wanted to do that, I'd have to look up the address for that campus, write it down somewhere, and remember to bring that with me, and then type the address into my Garmin at some point.

Now I sit here and go, "oh yeah, gotta go there," and I'll just use my phone to look it up, and then type it into my G when I have a few minutes. The only bad part is that, as noted above, typing something into the G's nav is a gigantic pain in the ass.

The car dealership the G came from - end of August.
My dentist, whom I will probably not return to - middle of September.
South Campus - uh... beginning of May?
A college in Worcester, my sister borrowed the GPS - June.
Sports Authority in Nashua - April.

I don't remember most of the rest of these. Two or three are sporting goods stores from April, another is my uncle's house (that can go into the car's address book). Looks like not even anything from this summer at the lake, which is rather surprising. I had my phone along and wasn't the driver for the only major "let's get lost" adventure.

The most common usage for my Garmin is "go home". The G can handle that.

I'd prefer cedar mulch to dark mulch, and if that's just loom, well, I'd be putting mulch on it come spring. Speaking of spring, it looks desperate for some more plant coverage.
Also, the whole "my neighbors can see me" would bother me, I'd be looking for a tall stockade fence.

However, it still looks good, and that patio looks excellent. The wearing on it is a nice touch. Colors can be changed, plants can be moved, fences can be expanded, but a patio only gets one shot.

Thanks. We really like it. Can't wait until next year, as the grass should grow in thicker by then and the new plants and trees will hopefully fill out pretty well.

The plants are all new plants and will grow and fill in the areas. You can't crowd them at this stage. My wife also planted a bunch of bulbs which will pop up next year. What you can't see is that there are 4 evergreen trees behind the hot tub (the tall, skinny kind) that will grow and block the neighbors. We're restricted on what we can do there and we generally only use the tub at night.

Dark mulch > cedar for our house. Cedar wouldn't look good given the trim colors.

Yard work sucks. Big time. I could never have done that patio myself -- not enough time, patience, or skill, not to mention the tools involved.

We're also going to be adding more tall, decorative grasses around the corner fence line in the spring to obscure the view more.

Lighting is on the agenda for next year too. We had electrical dropped out to the mulch bed on the right (which is home to the willow tree) and will line the outside of the patio walkway with lights.
