Well it's official. Time to nuke my old web server. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda from SSH.
No idea how this will go. I already did some stuff that most likely did nuke everything but this is to make sure. Going to get the provider to shut down the server in a few days and cancel service. Everything has been running off the new server for a few days now. Still some loose ends to tie such as an app that refuses to run but I'm not going to keep paying for the old server just for that app to work.
I've had that old server for like 5 years. At one time the uptime timer was at like 1200 days but they had a power failure that hard shut down their entire data centre floor.
I've probably paid off that old server like 5 times lol. Wish my ISP would allow me to just host from home now that I have a fibre connection. I have the infrastructure for it. I'd just need to get a generator and a small heated hut to store it in.
