Dealing with all sorts of bizarre electrical issues in my apartment.

(I just upgraded to a new Gigabyte 3GB GTX780 from my previous 4GB Gigabyte GTX770.) My main Windows 7 desktop computer won't turn on at all..in my apartment.(Tried every electrical outlet I could find..no luck.)

The odd thing is,my backup Linux PC(which I'm typing this message on) works just fine.
It's only my main PC that's having problems.

Both my Windows 7 PC and my backup Linux PC are custom-built.

But in my friend Lowell's apartment..my PC works fine, like nothing is happening at all.(He lives on a different floor than I do,but I don't see how that makes a difference.)

I'm going to see if I can get an electrician in here, and see if they can find out what's wrong with the wiring.

This is so aggravating...

Do some testing to make sure you're getting the right voltages at the outlets.

Weird electrical issues can also be caused by a floating neutral, especially if you're getting high voltage in some places and low voltage in others. But best to get an electrician if you don't know much about electrical.

Also: my guess is bad power supply. You have a ground issue and its probably a combination of things but a new psu should fix it.

Wow does time fly when you're pulling wire. Just finished installing all the outlets around the perimeter of my server room including some facing the outside, which could potentially be used for a TV or whatever I decide to put down there.

Still have to run the circuits for the actual rack. Debating on using the existing BX cable I got which is rated for 30 amps (want to put in a bigger rectifier setup eventually which will probably have to be hard wired) , or just buying some 12/2 romex. The BX is better since it will be somewhat exposed inside the rack so may as well keep it protected.

Being at work this morning is going to suck.

The temperature forecast this morning @8 AM? 25 degrees F.

I've lived here in Portland,OR all my life.Still can't get used to these sub-30 degree F temperatures.

30's would be nice. It snows from late October until late April/early May where I am. I live next to the refrigerator also known as Lake Superior.

Normally, the boss makes us workers wear these summer-weight black wind-breaker coats with Portland State's logo on them.

I'm going to wear my own white,non-logo'ed(I.E.,plain.) winter coat this morning.

(I've got my official PSU polo shirt on over a sweater, then my winter coat on top of that.)

Don't really care if I get yelled at..I'd rather stay warm.

Hopefully,Farhad (that's my boss) will understand the coat switch, considering it's December in Oregon.
