Computer just crashed during a game. Game locks for a split second, screen goes black, says entering power save mode. Sounds lock into a loop of the last half second. FPS display on the G15 keeps going, but it's dropped to zero, still showing live progress.

Hard shutdown was required. A fan was going maximum velocity, sounded like the GPU fan.

Conclusion is the GPU locked up, maybe but probably not heat related.
