Trying to decide which of the following to do, each would spend about $1000 or so:

1.Upgrade solid state drive to 120GB, upgrade video to GTX 780, water cool my PC

2.Upgrade solid state drive to 120GB, upgrade video to GTX 780, get good headphones

3.Upgrade solid state drive to 120GB, get good headphones, get another lens for my camera.

Which of these would you do?

I'd go with option 2

4. No SSD upgrade (why do you want 120 over 80?), water cooling. After that, depends on whether you care most about sound quality via headphones, taking great pictures, or doing more gaming.

We can make up our own options?

In that case, Option 5: Hookers and Blow

Well none of the hardware upgrades are needed. Hardware is just my hobby. Like those who put spoilers on their cars and race them just for the hell of it, hardware is my hobby. I can't justify it beyond saying it's my entertainment. But when compared to other hobbies I don't really spend more than someone who doe say car modding or woodworking, probably less. As to why the SSD, I'd like to put some games on mine and the 80 Gb one I have is starting to seem rather slow compared with what's on the market now, like 1/2 the speed on the current sand force offerings. The reason for the vid card upgrade? Again can't justify it, I don't even do that much gaming. However the gaming I DO do is on my 30" so I need to be able to do 2560x1600. Also I'm tired of Crossfire/SLI so I want a single fast card.

Taking pictures comes first over good sound quality. I can get most shots with my current hit lens but it would be nice to have a telephoto as well. But then I use my headphones for ALL PC listening so good headphones would be nice too :hmm:

If I can sell my current 5970 for around 300 I might be able to do all the above, close to it :D

None -- I'd save the money for a good vacation or something for my house.

Well that dentist trip went ok. I was really tense because the last time I had any work done (which I've mentioned like 10 times.. :( ) was when my baby teeth were pulled. However that wasn't a good experience because towards the end of that visit, I could FEEL them clamp around each tooth and pull it out. So I was pretty aware of the last 2 or 3 teeth that were pulled.

This wasn't bad, but why is it any time a dentist puts a needle in your gums, there is zero warning? Its like oh hai heres a needle in your gum. I mean they numbed it with some gel, but still it's just really unsettling to me.

Oh also last night I found out a local pet shop was ripping me off of my filters for my fish tank. Pack of 3 locally, $12.79. Pack of SIX on Amazon, just over $11... Ya I don't think I'll be shopping there anymore.
