Even though the forum slowdown has already proven the neffing thread is not to fault, and it is known that other forums are able to handle larger threads just fine. The problem is not in the neffing thread.

I have a Logitech X-530, without using the center or rear speakers. The subwoofer thumps out an unchanging note no matter how low I turn its individual volume. There are three wires going from the right front speaker into the computer tower, then a thick cable from that speaker to the subwoofer.

As of yesterday, I started looking for a new set of computer speakers, a 2.0 set with a few goals.

After spending about four hours talking to a friend who loves sound systems, I have something of a theoretical shopping list.

$200 for the Yamaha, and $110 for the Polks. A new edition of the Yamaha would be $230, and the black Polks would go for $180.

Unfortunately, this results in more power usage in the room, slightly better wiring, substantial cost, and a huge amount of used space.

I'm stuck with either NYG/WAS or, as I'm watching now, IND/TEN. I'd prefer to see GB/CHI. The night game is going to be worthless. Toilet division decides who gets offered as a sacrificial lamb to the playoffs.

Anyways. The Monitor40 Series II are something like 6" wide, 12" deep, and 16" tall. The Yamaha receiver is almost 20 pounds, 18 inches wide, 6 inches tall, and 14 inches deep.
