I've been on another nostalgia kick lately. Seeing these ads for smartphones, tablets, etc. makes me realize how far technology has come since I was a kid. But then I look at my C128 and 1571 drive and smile. :D

1571 made in Japan. Not sure about the 128.

Back in the 70s electronic stuff printed "MADE IN JAPAN" was considered the worst junk out there. Today really good stuff will be made in Japan. Everything else, well you know is made in China.

I wish we had alternatives to Chinese shit, but I can't even say premium price stuff can be relied upon these days to be made in America, or even Japan.

I remember those days. At any rate, I still like my old Commodore stuff. Some of it is bordering on 30 years old and it still works. Even my 5.25" floppies are still working. :D

I do believe I've managed to disable just about every piece of security software on my computer. As a result, no laggy bloatware shit.

The best security lies outside of the computer.
Using AV is like leaving your doors and windows open and giving an army of trained monkeys machine guns to deal with intruders and then lock up their holed corpses in a special freezer for post evaluation.

Another way to approach security. Have no sensitive data, reformat frequently.

Still has issues if the user needs to have access to sensitive material. Format? LOL that is done ONCE and then you have images to restore. Heck we have a central Acronis server and if I want to I can click on a shortcut that will restart the machine, boot from a special server and restore the system image. Takes about five minutes and it's done. :p

If you wanted to be really cool, you could use the unused Sith Witch from the preproduction sketches of Star Wars: Episode I:
