ATOT music nerds: recommend me guitars.

Want, but want a more rock/metal-oriented guitar first.

i played a les paul years ago, when i was playing in front of people, and the thing was like wearing an anchor on my shoulder. i ended up selling it and buying a hamer, which i loved but it was difficult to get it sounding JUST RIGHT. i used to fight with it, the humbuckers were very temperamental. i ended up trading that for a telecaster, which i still own. i don't play much anymore, but i do love my guitar. i also have a squire standard j-bass that i enjoy noodling on from time to time.

i wouldn't mind picking up a jim root telecaster one day, but as little as i play i would have to find a great deal on it. that and a mark hoppus jazz bass would make me happy.
