Nice little thread you got going, OLD TIMER;):D

I looked at many of the pics, nice autos you have here:thumbsup:

I especially like the rare old ones. I have had a
'65 fastback and '66 coupe mustang
'64 mercury comet convert
'63 falcon convert
'70 challenger 340
Times and tastes have changed, but I do appreciate a good muscle car:beer:

GNX was made in 1987.

GSX was made in 1970. There was a GSX dealer option in 1971 - 72. Basically a decal/parts bin creation. Any GS could be a GSX after 1970, even a 350 v8 powered one.
Damnit, I do that all the bloody time. I meant the GSX. And, yes, it was a parts bin creation but the Buicks with the 455 V8 do tend to be known as GSXs. I don't know why I wanted to put them in the 60's though. Brain fart. I'll blame it on the cold medication and on the fact that I'm a Ford guy anyway. :p

Nate

how the hell can you call that a muscle car?
I'm not a fan of the GTO either. Nice car, wrong name.

- RWD? Check!
- 2 doors? Check!
- V8 with power and torque? Check!

Works for me!

*shrug* i just think it's kind of a crappy excuse for a muscle car.... it really doesn't look like one.

but, then again, i don't like cars :) have fun in your little club i know nothing about
I like the car but I'm not a fan of the name.

1964 Dodge Polara 500

Original 383 - .30 over, Edelbrock aluminum heads, TRW forged pistons, Comp Cams XH275 cam, TTI aluminum thermal coated 1-3/4" headers going into 3" duals with an H-pipe, into Spintech XL mufflers. Approx 9.5:1 compression. FBO Systems ignition with custom curved distributor. Demon 750 on a Performer RPM intake. Broken in on the dyno.
Bill Reilly "AlterKtion" front coilover suspension with 12.19" Wilwood 4 piston brakes.
"Dr. Diff" 8 3/4" Suregrip rear with 3.55s.
Rear 11" TSM disc brakes with Caddy calipers
Kiesler Tremec TKO-600 5spd transmission with hydraulic clutch
Firmfeel rear swaybar
Griffin aluminum radiator with dual 10" Spal fans.
All fuel and brake lines replaced with new from Inline Tube
American Racing Torque Thrust II rims with custom offset, P245/60r16-F, P255/60r16-R Dunlop SP500o tires.

Future plans call for Dynomating the entire interior, and installing an Vintage Air system. Possibly Xenon lamps.

449hp on 87 octane This thing makes over 400ft/lbs of torque from 3000rpm on up. Plenty of grunt.

Interior

Anybody who knows anything about Dodges, knows that these were among the cars that the original factory guys started drag racing - the group of guys came to be known as the "Ramchargers"

If it had been an original Max Wedge car, we probably wouldn't have molested. As such, it was just a 383 so we decided to have some fun. It now handles and stops to match it's horsepower.

I think I should install some seatbelts.

Count me in on this!

Previous car was a '94 Camaro Z28, with H/C/I/G/E, the work, that little puppy really moved.

Car I have now is a 2003 Mustang Cobra SVT.

Supercharged 32v DOHC V8 FTW!

She could use some wax, and a better photographer, but she?s a blast to drive, when you get into the boost, the thing just screams.

I'm liking those dyno numbers right there at 4500rpm:) No need to look higher up on the RPMs!

Really a sports car, not a muscle car, but I am about to put a 500hp 383 in it ;)

Strokers are sweet. Big bang for little buck. Just make sure you have a reputable speedshop/garage do the machining. There isn't much to do but doing it wrong could wreck your day (and your wallet :) )

The motor is built by an engine builder. That's all he does. No installation/removal or anything, just builds em. He built a BB racing motor for a co-worker's 65 Chevelle that I believe had the car in the 10's. Six years later, that same motor is in someone else's Camaro and still running strong, with no rebuild. He currently has a BB 396 in there built by the same guy that has been running a year or so now with no problems. The motor I'm buying was built for a customer [nothing was paid for in advance] that they have now not heard from in about a year and a half. He said it should be good for at least 450-500 crank horsepower. I'm not sure if it's 350 stroked to 383, or bored/stroked. Hell, it might be a modified GM 383 crate motor for all I know. He's asking between $4800 and $5200 for it, minus the cost of my stock x-fire motor, if he can find a buyer for it.

I forgot the exact parts, but what I can remember is:
4 bolt main
383ci SB
aluminum heads
between 9.4 and 9.6 CR
JE pistons

All I need to add is an oilpan and a carb. Installation will hopefully be done at the Vette Doctors, as I have no room to do it myself and have never done an install myself. I just hope the Dana 36 rear can hold up until I can afford to put in a Dana 44, which goes for between $1000 and $2000 now, depending on where and when you get it.

Sounds like a fair price to me. I was contemplating buying the Chevy 383 crate that Pace Pontiac offers a few years ago but have decided to stay on track to getting my 427 dream engine. I really want to do either a dual quad crossram setup or possibly a triple deuce (or possibly 4 deuces). I want to build it piece by piece so I know what I have in the engine (when you buy a used assembled engine from somebody, you never know what's in it or what shape it is in). I'm looking to get around 450-550hp out of it but keep the rest of the car looking fairly stock (no 'SS' badging and I may even keep the '350' badges on the fenders  )

I'm not sure if this counts, but I really want to take a 1968 Ford Bronco, gut it, drop in a 302 automatic, etc, and make a nice, fuel injected, daily commuter.

I thought about it and as hard as it is for me, I'm not going to do the motor swap right now. I'm 21 I still have a school loan to pay off, car payments on my DD, insurance, etc and I am possibly going back to school to get the required 60 credits to join the NYPD. That all really depends though, on whether or not they make me a service writer at the dealership I work for. If they do, the starting pay is pretty good and I'll be searching for a 2002-2003 EB Z06 or a 2004 Z16 Z06.
