These paradoies are getting ridiculous. They waste Anand's bandwidth and they clutter the forum. This is not what ATOT is about. So, I'm moving for us ATOT members who love this place, who hate to see all this dumb crap, band together and see if we can get the mods to do something about it. My proposal is harsh but I think it will cut down on the parodies.

First time) Lock and Warning
Second time) 2 week vacation
Third time) Ban

Parodies only if the original post is linked, and if it's slightly humourous (ie: 6or7/10)

What about a 12 step program for those that post parodies?

Usually only the first or second parody threads are slightly amusing, but once you have a massive wave of them (with the 51 or the intimidated) it just gets really lame.

And what I say goes. And I say, "Let them have parodies!"

Most parody threads are lame. Don't settle for crap.

I've upped my standards... up yours!

i agree. i hate having to sift through parody threads to find a good, quality thread with a rationally discussed topic.

now if you dont mind, i have to offer my input on why single ply toilet paper is better than two-ply not just economically but also comfort-wise.

By writing "Serious Thread" in the topic summary, you decimated any chance you had of keeping this a serious thread. No dice.

Parody threads already get locked and warned, and people have been vacationed for excessive intentional neffing and forum clutter.

But seriously, learn to take a joke.

If you want quality over quantity, may'be I should start making parody threads.

ROFLMAO! That one got me. It hurts not to laugh out loud at work. :D

As for banning parodies, I've only posted one, but I don't think they should be banned. This is the Off Topic forum, and I don't see how they couldn't belong here. Plus, they can't get much worse than they already are, and I think they're manageable. The only way I would agree to it is if you can post proof that someone CONSTANTLY posts parody threads.

I totally agree with your proposal. People whine about YAGTs, in spite of the fact that it isn't half as bad as the so-called parody threads. One parody is enough, but more than one is ridiculous--especially when it takes over the first page of the list of topics. It stops being funny at that point.

Your motion is seconded! Oh, I would even be harsher with a lock and suspension the very first time.

At least parody threads are good for a laugh.

Well, so are YAGTs, I guess... :)

And if they weren't funny to start with, they are once you've posted your sage advice.

99% of the time parodies aren't funny

the attempts are getting dumber and dumberer.
