Okay so there is my broekn. One of the sides is chipped off and the other side is starting to bust. Yes my phone has been treated badly but I noticed this when I took my phone out of my POCKET

now because I'm a cheap college student (but still not cheap enough to not play WOW!) I'm willing to go to creative measures to try to fix it.

Any ideas?

Call em up and say you want to cancel because you can get a better deal elsewhere. They'll transfer you to some retention department. Ask what sort of deal you could get on a new phone. I upgraded all 4 of our phones to e315's for around $30 each in January. You probably would have to re-sign a 1-year deal, but it could be worth it. That department will be able to give you much better deals on the phones.

I've tried that before but it never worked. I explained that I could get a better deal at verizon, which was true, and they said the most they'd do would be three free months instead of a better phone. I said thank you but no thanks and the CS said "Have a nice day". This was a little over the one year mark.

Only reason I haven't switched to something else is my parents jumped on my plan also in the middle and that actually caused my well priced plan to skyrocket...something like almost 90 dollars a month for 400 shared minutes. It is ridiculous, but my dad wants to switch to Verizon so currently my hands are tied and I can't do anything.

Yeah, but I bet you only talked to the regular CSR's. Call em up. It'll be worth it. You want to upgrade your phone. If they can't give you a decent deal, tell them you're going to need to be transferred to the cancellation dept. They have more authority on what sort of deals they can give out.

Also check to see what sort of changes you can make to the shared family plan. I think we have 4 lines, 850 minutes for... $90, if memory serves... I could be completely wrong.

As for verizon vs. t-mobile, depends on several things including, but not limited to:

Do you all travel around the country much? (T-mobile's nationwide coverage, while not extensive, can be had for cheap)
Who all do you call a lot and what providers are they on? (If all your friends/relatives/contacts are on one carrier, might be worth it to switch)
Would they want to upgrade their phones as well?

It's worth it for T-mobile to wheel and deal a bit to keep your business, as it's around $1100-1200/yr for them.

Hmm I can do that today. But what should I be asking for? I worked on retail for two months so I learned you never give out the best deal, you keep poking and see what they WILL be satisfied with.

Butr you deal, was that on a special or did you just haggle like crazy?

I don't travel a lot, just So Cal Area. And yeah a lot of friends use Tmobile hence I wouldn't mind sticking with them.

The retail folks can't give you the deal, the customer support reps at 611 can't give you the deal. You have to get to the department that actually has a little trouble.

Do exactly what I said. Check out what phones are available. They'll ask if you have a particular phone in mind. You let them know which phone(s) and they'll say how much they can give it to you for.
