I have to present a poem, it can be a song, we have to analyze the poem for stanzas, syllables, meaning, etc. I was orginally gonna do sanitarium or fade to black by metallica, but then the prof. said how her last class some people were creative and read a poem and made you draw a picture to how you felt. I was thinking maybe i could do something where id read a poem or a song and have people makeup their own name for the song, band name, album name, and of course the meaning, etc. but then that seems more on the musical side then poetic side. Whadya guys think?

Do your own damn homework!

What the hell ever happened to kids, who actually studied? Your parents need to stop letting the computer raise you, and get more inter-active in your life.

Anything by They Might Be Giants.

Good luck. 😛

I'm glad I have only two English classes left - Speech and Technical Writing. I don't think either will entail any creative writing or poetry.
*fingers crossed tightly enough to fuse the bones together*

Make them identify the iambic meters, point out rhyme schemes, analyze the speaker, point out some connotations, describe some of the attitudes, point out some shifts, and describe how the poem is typical to it's genre.

thanks man i was just checking out fade to black and amazed at the structue in it. 7 syallables in almost every line, the rhyme scheme is really apparent, forgot what iambic pentameter is im gonna go look that up. I think fade to black might be a good choice only if it werent so goth/angsty. I know the song was written when james had his marshall amp stolen at one of their shows, i guess during the presentation i can mention a little bit about him.
