Well there was an airship in FF1, and if I recall the guy who tells you about it is named Cid. But I don't recall a Cid in FFT. I do recall airship ruins, but no Cid.

I don't think Cid is in the first FF (US).

If I remember correctly his first appearance in a FF game was FF4 in japan which is FF2 over here(US). Oh and in that same game was the first appearance of the Chocobo's as well.
 
I recall talking to an old man in a bar, and there being airships. I was pretty sure the old man's name was Cid. I think we should try some FF1 to be sure.

I was digging some proof for you and here it is:

Other egregious features about this game include: the first appearance of a Chocobo, the first appearance of Cid, the first Mithril equipment, the first Leviathan, the first Dragoon, the first portraits of characters in the status window, the first appearance of Ultima, and the first Hiryuu.
