We have made a few calls, none of which have been answered/returned. I guess I could try emailing. Might be best to wait until the website is more complete, and in the meantime maybe include some text links to favorite cat products. I know there are also ways to "monetize" a website with stuff like google ads. I think that might not even yield enough income to pay the cost of hosting the site. But maybe it would be better than I think.

I dunno, I'm just tossing ideas around. Sure do appreciate your input.

Have you guys tried to find a vet that will give you a break on the vet care? Some will do a lot to help groups like yours, they understand the financial pressures small rescue groups are under.

Oh yes, we've asked around. We found one that's a bit too far away (45 miles one way) and they insist on keeping the spays and neuters overnight, so it's two trips instead of one day go up there in the morning, drop off kitties, do some shopping, have lunch, maybe nap or read in the car for a while, then pick up kitties and go back, meaning 180 miles of driving instead of "only" 90 miles, not to mention the time it takes. Cost of gas, wear and tear on vehicles, lost productive time makes up for the difference in price of surgery.

Generally speaking the vets in this area are not sympathetic enough to rescue operations to give us a break. Their fees are lower than in other parts of the country to begin with, probably to accommodate the larger number of low income folks around here. So they don't make as much in profit as they would elsewhere, and hence are reluctant to cut fees for anyone.

We would have a better chance of finding a sympathetic vet if we were in a larger town or city. But we're not at liberty to move at this point.
