Hi guys.

You might remember this thread from just over a week ago.

It didn't go as planned.

So now I am PLEADING for your support.

THE PETITION

I am trying to get Spike TV to welcome technology by bringing the HDTV format into it's programming. I know, I know, my petition specifically states for WWE Raw. And while I realize some of you might not find any aspect of men in tights rolling around in a ring entertaining yet alone deserving of HDTV, I am pleading for your appeal to Spike TV to bring HDTV to their network. If one show gets it, then others will follow. And RAW *is* their flagship, top rating show. Even if you are not for wrestling, most of you are for new technology and the expansion of more networks providing HDTV content. Please support that content. Please tell Spike and WWE we want HDTV!!!

I cannot express my appreciation for anyone who can sign this and say to Spike TV we want HDTV!

edit Thanks to whomever is #5. I really truly appreciate you taking something I care so much about and mess with it. You should be ashamed of yourself. Unbelievable.

Sometimes it takes a push in the butt and something like this to get them to understand what their customers want. Heck, I watch some HDTV channels just because they are *in* HDTV, not because of the content. By going to HDTV right away, Spike could potentially draw a much larger audience to all of their shows.

I would take it as a lot more funny if I wasn't so into this petition and getting Spike to move on to the new format.

You should stop taking yourself so seriously (and no, I didnt do #5).

Petition online uses email address to 'validate' a user... I've probably got about 20 addresses to my name, as well as the ability to create a infinate amount more.

Yeah...sweaty guys in tiny spandex underwear isn't my idea of quality entertainment. And I definitely wouldn't want to see them in high definition lol

Which is WHY I wrote that at least you can support in terms of getting another network to bring HDTV format to their shows.

Good luck. I'm sure Spike wants to do it, but do they have the funds to get all the necessary equipment? Remember HDTV equipment is quite expensive. You're looking at around $250,000 for one HDTV capable camera. That's ONE camera out of HOW many Spike has? The other equipment does not come cheap either. This is the primary reason a lot of stations haven't done HDTV yet, it's not a matter of them wanting to it's a matter of them being able to afford it.

Yeah, I heard the same thing equipment wise. Maybe Spike and WWE could strike a deal. It's not like the billionare Vince McMahon is hurting on change that much.

What makes you think online petitions DO work? I've seen lots of companies say that a visit in person affects them more than a letter which affects them more than a phone call which affects them more than an email which barely affects them at all.

Also, suppose all these people who won't watch spike tv sign the petition, then they don't end up watching it. Don't you think spikeTV will lose a LOT of money in that case?

Look, he said I was wrong, what other proof does he need? :)

Isn't spike owned by mtv?

Apparently they are owned by viacom... who owns mtv, bet, nickelodeon, among like 10 other channels

Movie channels: I want in HDTV.... they're there. Football games.... done. I'm happy. I really don't care if they broadcast the crap on Spike tv in HDTV... I watch that channel about once a year. As if I want to watch 25 minutes of commercials an hour in high definition.
