ATOT could have a 51% in AMD! (We'd hafta quit hotdeals for a while, though.)

AMD's market capital is about $2billion with its current share price just below $6.. If we take that times 51% and divide that by 80,000 (rough estimate of the number AT members), then we'd each buy about $13,000 worth of stock. And hell, it's an awesome deal - they say Dresden Fab 30 alone is worth $2.2billion.

But, some members have more to blow (AnandLalShimpi) than others (Rossman). So we could figure out a way to equal everything out. Think about what we could do if we had control of AMD...

- Unlock all the multipliers and only sell processors at their fastest possible speeds
- Remove Palladium support
- Make fun of Intel's overpriced processors in an ad campaign
- Bring back Jerry Sanders as the KFC Colonel
- Pass out engineering samples to shareholders
- Free AMD mugs
- Come up with a new architecture and call it 'Superduperquantiquadrillionmillionspeed Architecture'
- Make fun of the Itanic with corporate backing

There are so many other things we could do with a processor company too. So who's willing?

And, if we're not all willing to pay the price for AMD, we could always join forces with ArsTechnica, Sharky's?, Tomshardware?!...

Wingznut, is it antitrust if a corporation owns a controlling stake in their only competitor? 😉
Heh... Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's covered in the Anti-trust laws. 😉

What about wholly owned subsidiaries, shell corporations, and limited liability off-shore partenerships in the grand caymans?

I'm in -

However, the bullets that you listed as "our" business plan would have to go. It seems like you ripped a page out of a Dot.Com business plan - that's why so many of them are gone.

This sounds like that plan someone had to take over 3dfx after their shares plumeted to 5 cents each or something to stop them from selling out to nvidia.... exept this time it requires 50x more people and like 1.9 billon$ more.....

Well, if you take the money I woulda made if I had sold AMD when I shoulda sold, I could jump in. <"It can't possibly go any lower."> Wish that was and is true. It isn't. They'll probably do a reverse split soon.

Well you do know that when you started trying to buy up 51% of the shares, you would make a ripple and the shares of stock would sky rocket since people would figure out what your trying to do. Hey why dont we get together a Leveraged Buyout and do it that way hehe.
