I'm technically lutheran, I'm not giving up anything.

Lutherans are just reformed Catholics, so technically you're just giving up being Catholic.

Giving up bad food alltogether. Wife and I made a list of what we can eat. Plus I have to do 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week.

Interesting... didn't think of that.

I'm not doing anything because I'm not Catholic and even if I was, the idea of trying to emulate Jesus in one facet when you live your life according to your own "wicked" (using the religious meaning of that) ideals is just silly. I remember in college a couple guys I knew were talking on Ash Wednesday how their night was, "Oh studied for my test... slept with the girlfriend...," and all I could notice was the hypocritical ash on their forehead. What the fuck is the point of even doing it if you don't care about anything else?

/sigh @ logic.

I'm doing really well with that too, 23.5 years cold turkey!

i think i missed the boat on the start day of Lent, but i thought about giving up chips & beer. i'm not giving up a couple key things i really enjoy though, so i'm copping out. i suck at Lent. =/

I'm Episcopalian. Protestants are welcome to participate in Lent if they'd like to.

Methodists are reformed Episcopalians BTW, and Episcopalians, despite being Protestant, are (thanks Robin Williams) Catholic Lite - all the God and half the guilt.

my christian denomination does not officially participate in that tradition
some members may on their own, i don't know
i don't do that

I'm a christian and I don't do/participate/honor/whatever lent. You sure you don't mean Catholics?

I was under the impression that it is a stricly catholic tradition as well. Ive never known a protestant to even so much as mention it.

This is correct AFAIK...But don't they follow the same Christ in teaching? 🙂

The Episcopalians do observe lent, they are a protestant denomination. Catholics are Christians.
