Will people PLEASE stop making these threads every time they see a Dobson fly? Despite being an avid bug enthusiast growing up, I never saw one until I was 17/18yo but I've seen a few since then and these threads have been popping up for as long as I've been here. I came in here KNOWING it'd be another Dobson fly, but I've been surprised before so I clicked it anyway.

OMFG, are you going to be okay? I'd hate for your fucking fingers to have to click an extra time to get out of this thread.

First dobsonfly I ever saw was MUCH bigger than the pics in this thread. Actually about twice as big.

I am glad the only nasty looking bugs out here right now are earwigs and they don't bite really but just look a bit nasty.

My dogs always used to get bitten by them. They'd latch on, and wouldn't let go.

I took my canoe out once, drove ~150 miles to the river, fully inflated my airbags, and set off. After getting water in my boat, hundreds of earwigs came out from under my airbags. I had those fuckers floating all around me. Happily I was wearing neoprene, and I eventually washed them all out by the end of the run. Still not a fun thing to have around you :^/

Woah that thing looks kinda cool. I'm guessing that's a mom carrying some kind of larvae. For some creatures out there, that's probably prime dinner right there. Eat the kids then eat the mom. Juicy.

i'll guess those are parasitic wasp eggs. larvae burrow into living host while alive, feast, emerge as adults to kill more pests.

edit: ^damn was wrong
