Hey all,

I plan to build a small home server to store my media on, host a small web page or two, manage my bit torrent downloads and push out my WSUS updates. Right now i'm using an old PIII Server i found in a back ally and it seems to work alright. My planned rig will use the Intel D945GCLF Mini-ITX , Atom based CPU @ 1.6ghz. I know the rest of the PC will be fine, i'm just concerned about this processor and wondered if any of you have any experience using it in desktop or tiny server applications.

Thanks.

I think I read somewhere that the 1.6 ghz should be equivalent to an 800 mHz Pentium M (?)

My nephew is running ubuntu on one now. It isn't terrible. Some things feel quite a bit slower then normal though. Like installing ubuntu felt like it took forever.

It was able to play SD H.264 content with pretty high settings used for the encode (not super high bitrates, but you get the idea)
