So, my fiancee's family has the Artins book at their house and I picked it up and read a bit of it. I use to do a lot of Atkins bashing because in my nutrition studies classes last semester my professor kept saying Atkins is horrible, the only good way to lose weight is to reduce caloric intake and lose about 1 lb. per week. So I thought exercise and reducing caloric intake was the only way to go....
Well, either Atkins is a really good BS'er or knows what he is talking about; either way he is very persuassive. He disspells diets that are based on calories and disspells diets based on cut-out-the-fat. It was interestered to find out what a calorie really is, because I never knew what it was (unit of heat required to move 1 gram of water 1 millimeter @ 1 atmospheric pressure or something like that). His philosophy is that people gaining/losing weight is based on metabolic rates and tendencies.
Good read!
