ATI's Trade Up Program

I found that if I send ATI an old graphics card, they will discount the price of a video card. i am looking for the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. If I send in a graphics card they will sell it for $149.

I think there may be a limit to the types of cards you can send. But if you can send em like a 4mb trident then I guess that and $150 is worth a retail 9600pro.

Even with the trade-in, if you can't find a better price straight up from a retailer (online or b&m), you're not trying.

or, you get a really really good deal on a 9600 pro and trade it in for a 9800 pro and get an overall better deal. They restrict what you can trade-in.

Thats a rip off if i am reading it right. A 9800PRO after trading in my card. Heck the card is available for that much retail!

Not to mention in my case if have a GF4 Ti4400 which i could sell in $50-100 range!

It used to be you could trade in ANYTHING! It's still a poor deal if you factor in their high shipping charges as well as shipping your old ISA stinker.

Just get it from a good retailer for the same "trade up bargain" price.

newegg has the sapphire 9600pro for under 160 shipped
i do have an 8500 i may trade in, depends on what it goes for in fs/t and what card i want when im ready to get one

They don't give you any trade in value. PERIOD. The only "deal" is that you get a lower MSRP when buying the card from ATI. Then factor in shipping from them to you, and you shipping your oldie to them.

Unless it's a 1MB PCI stinker, it's not worth it - you could sell your old card on here for $20-50 and be much further ahead.

If anyone has an old 4mb vid card they would like to donate to me (I'll pay shipping) gimme a PM
