Welcome to the Rock!

If the article is accurate, then it looks like the Sept. 30th finish date for HL2 is set in stone. Renting out the Rock can't be cheap. We may have to wait a few weeks for the card though.

Anyway, the 9800XT is almost 415MHz for the core and 730MHz for the memory. $399 price. I'd like to see those benchmarks.

If they havent got HDR working yet in the game I would be surprised if they can get it out in ~ 2 weeks.

excuse the ignorance, but what is HDR?

On a side note, i dont understand why this card is being released since 9800 pros can EASILY do 415/720

That's exactly like saying why release an Athlon 3200+ when my 1700+ EASILY does 200x11. They want money, and fools don't overclock. Since we have 9800pro's we can just set them to that speed and laugh at people who paid the extra.

HDR is up and running with ATI & HL2. Also, I think you'll be surprised with the Cat 3.8's when they come out.

9800XT is a speed bump... also have better cooling, removal of some hotspots, circuit path optimization and I'm sure there's a couple other things floating around like HW level bugfixes that ATI has gotten around with software fixes.

So how exactly are they going to launch them from Alcatraz? Is that the only place that's going to be having any quantities of it (that's odd)... are they sending them out from Alcatraz? Or is Alcatraz just where they're going to have a big party, and if so, who's all invited?

Hopefully 9800XT can overclock even further. Like 500/850 or better.
