Looks like ATI was rather pissed. :Q

From Hard|ocp
All seemed to be pretty well till this morning when ATi realized that VIA was showing off the next-gen ATi R300 card in their suite here at Computex as reported by Anandtech yesterday. The card disappeared pretty quickly from the VIA booth at the hands of an ATi bandit. We have good information that ATi is beyond pissed about the situation. Heck, all VIA was doing was showing off the 700MHz DDR card running stable with an 8X AGP bus on a VIA KT400 reference board.

From Anand:
Yesterday we brought you pictures of ATI's R300 running in VIA's booth and as we originally guessed it, VIA shouldn't have been showing off the card. It turns out that ATI ended up getting quite upset with VIA but in the end the running R300 card should have been embraced by ATI as some very good PR. Today a visit to VIA's booth revealed an ASUS GeForce2 card running in place of the R300.

To those at ATI that were worried about VIA bragging about having R300 in their suite, VIA did nothing of the sort. We recognized the board as something other than R200 or RV250 and thus inquired a bit further but for the most part VIA was simply calling it an 8X AGP card by ATI.

Kudos to ATI for not releasing the card untill the drivers are finished. I am so sick of companys releasing shitty drivers............... Anyone remember the TNT 1 products, Matrox OGL - d3d wrapper, the list goes on and on.......

I can see why ATi would be upset. Remember when Apple/Steve Jobs got really pissed at ATi for releasing the specs of some Apple product the day before MacWorld? ATi's equity hangs in the balance more or less.

What really worries me is the 10-layer PCB/.15mu rumor. I really like how small my Radeon 7500 is. I hope ATi can keep their boards compact and running cool, unlike nVidia's Ti4600 which got into Voodoo 5000 territory.

GTaudiofile, just because there is more layers doesnt mean the card will get larger. Hs you can see from the pics shown, you get an idea how big the card will be. Still kind of hard to judge.
