ATIKMDAG stopped responding has recovered in Vista

Hi Everybody,

ATIKMDAG stopped responding... has recovered... error in Vista when Enabling Aero & 3d in games...

I have had a running ticket with ATi for 2 weeks now and found the solution myself as they are useless. This is what I sent to them today from within my ticket! This works for me! (Also make sure you have enabled ACPI 2.0 sipport in BIOS not sure if it helps but best to be safe)

I found that if you go into the system configuration utility (Start menu then type "system configuration" in the search bar) and then choose the boot tab and then to advanced options. There you will see at the top two boxes that you can check one is processor and the other is memory. If you check both of these and choose one processor and then the max amount of memory that is on your system. Hit apply and ok. Restart your system and it should run quickly in 2d and 3d works! Yay!"

Probably have idiots tech working. All these companies like ATI/Gigabyte/Asus/Gigabyte... ect hire people for tech support by just requiring them to have A+ certification 601 + 604.

If you had a easy problem then it gets solved very quickly, but any difficult issue requires these tech to actually to do some research which they will do if they are motivated or experienced.

Advice : search on Google before containing the tech.

I'd be very surprised if any of them even have any sort of certification. You can almost hear the pages turning on their script books.

I am glad you got the issue fixed, and this info is being passed around, I know I'll keep it so if I hear of this issue, I can fix it.
