ATI Xpert 128 - where to get a GOOD driver to fix these probs

I decided to start another thread, since my original one (New System Hosed...) got way too long.

I have an ATI Xpert 128 PCI card in the system I just built. It was running fine in VGA mode. Then I installed the drivers. The CD that came w/the card was hosed. Don't know if it was just bad to begin w/or whether it got hosed by the crappy CDR drive that was in there, either way it won't load.

So I went to ATI's site and got their LATEST AND RECOMMENDED drivers for the card. Loaded them, now I get random colored boxes all over any windows I open up as well as hard locks. What gives here? Is there anywhere else besides ATI's site to get ATI drivers? Argh.:disgust:

Thank you. Unfortunately, that's the driver I'm running right now. I'm starting to wonder if it's the mobo.....bad PCI card, bad AGP card....I don't think both cards are bad...something's wrong. I may download the driver again on my DSL connection because I originally downloaded it on a superslow dialup that is connected to a really dirty line. There's a slim (real slim) possiblility that somehow the driver set is corrupted.

I mean, shoot, it's GOTTA BE the drivers, as everything runs fine with no drivers installed (card running as a generic VGA adapter) We'll see. Thanks again.

You are SO The Man! Thanks for the great link. Interestingly enough, the ATI Driver set installs DX8 as part of the install process. I went into DXDIAG and ran the tests. The video tests lock the box. Not a good sign at all. I'll give these new drivers a shot. Thanks again.
