Well, this deal is definitely on fire. $190 is as low as I've seen on a card like this. HIS is not my favorite manufacturer, by far. But worth taking a gamble to get the preinstalled AS cooler.

The other card is pretty cheap for a 7800GT, but 1. it's $75 more and 2. it's by MSI.

If I was in the market for one of these beasties, I'd get an evga 7800GT for a few bucks more instead.

Yup, and at 120MHz higher default core speed than the GTO... If it weren't for the rebate I'd jump all over this like an ecchi oyagi on pantsu. :p Still... considering...

lol ZAP whatever that is.

personally I'd get the R480 core inside Sapphire GTO2 but only because

1. I beleive in modding as a matter of principle.
2. Better core
3. cheaper
4. no rebate

The only thing this card has from my perpective is a kickass cooler to pull me that way.

1) Right on!!!

2) What core does the X850XT have? How is it different from the R480?

3) I figure that (rebate willing) the HiS card is only $5 more and defaults to 100Mhz more memory and 120MHz more core, plus is 16 pipes. The Sapphire GTO² is 12 pipe though some claim theirs had 16 and others have modded theirs. I think $5 extra is worth the 100% guaranteed 16 pipes with no modding necessary plus the 100% guaranteed clock speeds and the better cooler.

4) However, rebate... :disgust:

I got in on the Connect3D X800GTO deal on Black Friday for $145AR (still waiting on that rebate) and mine modded fine to 16 pipes, but wasn't a very good overclocker. Forgot how much but the core peaked at about 430 or 470MHz. Running it at default speed and 16 pipes right now, passively cooled.

BTW anime fans would know what I'm talking about, but here goes...

ecchi - mild perversity
oyagi - old man
pantsu - panties

That right classy sometimes I read things and see something different than what really there. I though this hot deal was for an x800xt orginally.:p

Zebo, some coffee might help. ;)

At this time I'm gonna pass on this deal because I no longer am forced to upgrade (figured if I have to swap motherboards, may as well go PCIe). I just have to live with hitting the F1 key everytime I turn on my HTPC - saves me the cost of having to buy a new mobo and vid card.

BTW, for those who aren't fans of the HiS brand or of rebates, Newegg had some X850XT cards (Sapphire or Powercolor, forget which) for $200 with no rebates. These use the traditional coolers that still take up a second slot.

Maybe you should have checked and posted a link because I don't see any for less than $213 shipped.

Well, deal's over. This one was $199 after a small $20 rebate. This one was $199 after a coupon code - it was in the stickified Newegg Hot Deals post before they changed it to the Raptor.

Bump for the last day on a HOT card and HOT deal.

I'd buy 1, but I don't really NEED another video card for another couple of months and by that time, the 7800GTs should be sub $250.

I understand the high side of overclocking the XT is lower than the Sapphire GTO2

I am running 550/600 on the GTO2 with 16 pipes out of the box, and a standard sigle width coller, and the box is a quiet as it was with onboard sound...

I really like the HIS coller, but have found that the lost space is not needed with the stock cooler...

Almost all X850Xt's should OC past 550 on their core. I think you could count on 560-570. The X850XT and an unlocked X800GTO2 are only seperated by clock speeds. I think you will generally get higher speeds thus greater performance from the X850XT.
