WOW.... Ok, its your opinion. I will be buying a 6800, although I do not know which version. Both the X800XT and the 6800U are a bit pricey. But if I were to choose between them, 6800U.
My reasons:
Historically, Nvidia has been more stable and compatable for me. Drivers and hardware wise.
Performance difference between X800XT and 6800U is a dead heat. If the X800XT significantly outperformed the 6800U, that would be a different story, but it did not if at all depending on the benchie.
Already have a power supply that can handle it.
PS3.0 compliant ( I believe when PS3.0 developed games come out, I will notice performance advantage over the R420 architecture in that same game, like I said, I believe. So its enough to sway me.)
Mpeg encoding (Dont know if I'll ever use this, but its a cool feature nontheless.)
Dont have a shuttle (had one, but sold it because of the noise level, sits on desktop not on floor)
Dont like Far Cry ( Which ATI crushed NV in frames and IQ, but that will be fixed over time) Dont know if I will ever buy the game. Maybe a cheap used one down the road if Crytek and NV work it out.
Newer technology. From scratch architecture with young drivers. Only room for improvement.
Image quality (Except for FarCry) is now either equal or slightly better that ATI (according to some review sites.) ATI has great IQ, but now NV has caught up and then some. I am judging this with my own eyes and screenshots comparing 5950, 9800XT, 6800U and X800XT. NV is in ATI's league with IQ now.
I am sure there are other reasons but this post in getting long.
