That thing is legit. My wife had a X2 3800+ @ 2.66Ghz with built-in x1200. Once I installed Sims 2, it would get 10-15fps @ 1440x900, all High. Popped an x700 Pro in it, and framerate is now stable ~50-60. It's equivalent to 9800Pro in performance.

Is that faster or slower than, say, a GeForce FX5900XT AGP 128MB?

as the comparison posted above shows, the x700pro is faster, BUT this thread is about a PCI-E slotted card, not AGP, so not sure why the interest of the comparison.

Its weird...that website for the one posted at direction lists the core as 600 and memory as 700...and ddr3? Not gddr3? Based on the ati chipset chart...WTF is that thing at direction? Doesn't seem to fit in there anywhere.

Edit: Anyway...the point is probably pretty sound. Newer budget cards usually have their balls cut off and lack the raw pixel pushing power of older midrange stuff. They'll support new features but lack the horsepower to actually use them at playable frame rates. For old games, the new features weren't used anyway.

I ordered this card with several other items I needed last week and received my order today. They sent me the wrong card. I received an ATI 9600SE 128M AGP card ( http://www.geeks.com/details.a...0HC24-001FS-PB&cat=VCD ). I'm still trying to resolve a problem with an order last month when they also sent me an incorrect part. With the wrong part problems I have been having lately, the poor customer service and inadequate packaging I'm going to stop ordering from them.

Their packaing is pretty bad. I ordered a PSU and it came by itself in a box, obvously bouncing around in it the whole time. No padding whatsoever!

Thanks for the revive. Which of these cards (if either) can do the best HD video? I'm guessing the X1600 if either of them at all.

My HTPC had an AGP HD 2600 Pro (which died), but for $10 I replaced it with an X800 XT All In Wonder. I find the X800 with Avivo to be better on CPU usage during HD decode.

Where did you find a X800XT for that cheap?

As for the X1600 versus the X700 question:

See here: http://www.firingsquad.com/har...t_x1300_pro/page11.asp

The X1650 Pro is the EXACT same sku as the X1600 XT, just with a 30mhz or so overclock on the core. Problem with most of these X1650 Pro cards is that the Clocks never match up. My X1650 Pro is running at least 100mhz less than it should on the core, same with memory.

Bottom line though, The X1600XT is faster, thus the X1650 Pro is faster.
