ATI x1800XT vs 7800GT + extra gig of ram

there is this thing in the forum. i think it is called searching. this topic has been exhausted over and over. please run a search and i imagine you will find useful info.

Dear wise ass, thanks for your useless input. I am very well aware of the search function, part of my post is asking whether HIS or hightech is a viable boardmaker. Thats not answered in any thing my search pulled up.

Rstrohkirch, thanks a bunch I was searching under HIS or just Hightech, didn't come up for me.

HIS is ATI they usually slap on a artic cooler or at least a better vga cooler. ATi is located in the USA HIS is I think european.

Go with the X1800. There's really no competition there (and HIS is a perfectly acceptable solution).

If you play games at 1280x1024 or lower, then i'd go with the 7800GT.

Otherwise, or if you plan to keep the card for a long time, i'd grab the X1800XT.
HIS is an excellent manufacturer btw.

ATi has way better IQ especially with sport games like madden and tiger woods. Turn on the AA and it looks beautiful. Go with the 1800. 🙂

I have a 7800GT and I like it. But if I could have any card. I'd get the 1800. You pay for the bragging rights too =)

Do you even have to ask this question? You're comparing a card that beats the 7800GTX 256 in almost every test to a weaker 7800GT. With way better performance, Adaptive AA, and HQAF, it's no competition.

I was actually considering about buying the X1800XT or X1800XL until I saw the 7800GT for so cheap. X1800XT definitely performs better, but when I compare the price, I just instantly picked the 7800GT.
