ATI X1800XT 512MB (Open Box) $239.99, No Rebate, $1 Shipping

Sweet deal, but OP, your link is to the retail version @ $299.99. Here's the link to the OEM, and btw, it's a bit better even, as it's still new, just in OEM packaging : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102007.

If you notice the 'R' at the very end of the link(link on my 1st post) it stands for 'Refurb'. When the item is OOS (out of stock) Newegg redirects to the most similar product (in this case the retail version of the card). The link you put up is for the OEM 256mb version. I had the 512mb refurb linked for the same price. When refurbs (for $239.99) are available again they should show up under that link I posted.

"Open Boxes". The $279.99 are a different newegg part number than the $239.99 "Open Box" 1 I listed. Pretty much same card though(same model and brand). Just give it a few days, check back on this link often and sooner or later I'm sure there will be some available again for $239.99.

This has most likely been asked and answered 100 times before, but if one gets an "open box" item from NE and it's DOA, can one get a NEW card from ATI (or from whoever makes the card) under their warranty?

For open boxed and manufacturer recertified items Newegg refunds rather than replaces. They do this due to having a short supply of the product.

If you talk with the manufacturer directly though, you can probably get the card RMA'd just by showing the proof of purchase through Newegg. I guess it really just matters who the card is made by.

$239.99 is BACK on right now!! Just submitted an order, 1st said not in stock, but when I looked up again was in stock...Pretty odd, but grabbed one for $239.00...We shall see in 3 days!! 🙂

Dang, I just looked again for the heck of it and it now says "OOS"...Could they change that when they have onsies here and there? I have a completed order for one just minutes ago...Sheesh...timing is everything.

I just bought one and it worked. Do a search for x1800xt 512mb there are two that come up for 239.99, one didnt work anymore and one did.

EDIT- CLICK THE TOP ONE.

I personally wouldn't trust an open box.. where someone tinkered with the graphics card..

If your willing to pay so much, why not pay 20 more dollars for a retail brand-new one...

It is 60 more for retail. Plus if is bad when you get it, you can always send it back to Newegg. You have 15 days through Newegg for exchange on "open box."

the question you have to ask yourself is: Is the extra 256mb worth $40? The 256mb Open Box x1800xt card is selling on Newegg for $199.99.

I asked myself that question, and I answered myself YES 🙂

I answered no, lol. At least not now in gaming. The core/memory speeds of each card are the same, and since games right now don't use 512mb of video memory, it's a waste of memory. Maybe in another year or 2 games will begin requiring that much memory. I had the same dillemma a couple years ago with the 9800 pros. I checked up the gaming performance difference between the 128mb and 256mb versions and only saw 1-3 fps in difference.

back up to 300 bucks........

XT class of the Radeon 1K series, **512mb** onboard GDDR3 - this is still a good deal

If you should ever go and re-sell it though it will fetch more if you have the 512 vs the 256 to most buyers of used goods 😉

Kinda save money now but lose more later when you go to sell it to buy a newer card.

Agreed. I always resell my old cards and more memory will be more appealing to potential buyers, regardless if it's actually useful or not.

Ever ask someone what kind of video card they have and instead of telling you the brand/core type of card, they tell you the amount of memory? "I have a 128MB card, so I'll be fine." Yea, well they made GeForce 2's with 128MB of RAM that didn't help the slow core with crap.

Bah... Sorry, one of my pet peeves. 😛

FWIW, I just RMAed a Gigabye X1800XT 512MB open box for $239.

Lots of freezing, green artifact problems.

I'm using a new OEM Sapphire X1800XT 256MB instead. Pretty happy with it so far.
