Hey guys,

I do not know much about safe video card temps. However, my radeon x1800 512mb (stock cooler) seems to be running high. I installed ati tray tools, and upon booting into windows I look and the video card runs at about 85 Celsius. I tried playing some hl2, and after about 10 min of play, it seems as though the card got as high as 105 Celsius. I'm not sure if this is something that has started happening, as I never really monitored it before. I began monitoring it because when i first installed half life 2: episode 2 when i would begin playing i would hear beeping coming from my computer (i assumed this was from the video card), and then the game would crash.

I took out the card and snapped it back in and made sure it was getting the correct power from my PSU. After this, and installing the latest omega custom drivers, the game doesn't crash anymore, but those temperatures mentioned above seem real high. Are these temperatures something to worry about, or is this normal? Could i have a setting enabled that is making it run higher than what the idle temp should be? I've checked, and im pretty sure i have all overclocking in the ATI tools disabled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

bump, and would like to add that now when I turn on my computer, everything turns on fine (all fans are running, lights, etc) but no video is displayed to the screen. It will only come back if I turn it off for a couple of hours, then try again. After this it would boot into windows normally and everything seemed fine. However, I shut down the comp again, and when i woke up this morning, it wouldnt display video upon booting. After leaving it unplugged for a few hours it seems fine again.
