ATI vs. NVidia

Sorry, you guys probably have half a million posts like this each day...

my current build is :

MSI K8T800 NEO-FISR
AMD 64 3000+
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
1 GB Corsair XMS

My dad is using some integrated graphics card on his computer and is interested in buying my 9700 pro for kinda cheap, and paying for part of a new card for me.

Once again, I need an AGP card...and I'm trying to find something around $300. What's my best bet? If there's a good card out there for a great deal, I'd go for it...

I saw that mwave had the x800 xl for like $227

I'm having a hard time finding a place to buy an NVidia GeForce 6800 GT OC (Which was my first choice).

Can anyone help? Thanks! 🙂

Go for the XL, you might just save a few bucks out of it.

the 6800gt agp8x cost is pretty good plus it can be oced to ultra speeds the x800xl cant be oced far.

Not terribly concerned with overclocking to amazing speeds, just want a steady/reliable/excellent card. My computer would probably blow up if I tried OC'ing.

the gt and the ultra are basically the same card you can flash the bios to ultra so its pretty much an ultra. the 6800gt can easily be oced to ultra without a problem and still be reliable steady excellent card.
