ATI TV WONDER VE + Win2000 only sound from one speaker???

I just bought and finished installing the card under Win2000. Everything seems to be working fine, except when watching tv. The sound is only coming out from the right speaker. I've checked under the volume controls, and the balance for everything is set to the center. Then I tried winamp and this time I get sound from both speakers, but when I tried adusting the balance, the left and right speakers are reversed. I've checked the speaker lines and they are connected the right way. So somehow the ATI software messed it up. And btw, when I watch tv, I hear this high pitched sound from the speaker. But it's not there if I watch the captured video. Is it some kind of interference? Anyways, what can I do to get sound from both speakers when watching tv? Or is this normal for the TV WONDER VE b/c it doesn't have stereo? Thanks in advance.
