First overclock results

Almost 1,000 points of an increase so far. I don't know if that is good or not. We need some X1900XT(X) scores to compare.

EDIT: Nevermind

Looks like I'm doing okay for the first overclock. I'm gonna see what happens when I make the GPU scream.

Anyhoo, CCC does not need to be deleted as such. But there is no reason for it with ATT.

I'm sure I probably know the answer to this question already - but has anyone tried this in Vista RC1 yet (and if so, does it work)? Overclocking in CCC doesn't seem to have any effect...

X1900XT on the way. This thread will come in handy.

Thanks OP, and thanks to Bull Dog for the link. :)

***Update***

I've had better luck--strictly in benchmarking--with this ATI Tray Tools than I've had using 3 different versions of ATI Tool. Here are some results from my overclocked X1900GT:

ATI X1900GT 712/850 (1700) @1.525V on the core/2.0861V on the memory.

Benchmark results

Benchmark Result Comparison

:D....Looks like I'm beating a stock X1900XT with this benchmark.

I'm going to play some games and see how much real-world performance this gives me over my stock settings.

Sweet. I missed all these cool features of ATT that were available on my x800gto. Glad to see them supported on the x1k cards now.

For anyone else using this, are you having problems with it changing clockspeeds automatically? On my X1900XTX, it's causing the system to hang when it tries to drop back down to 2D settings(either via automatic 2D/3D or a manual game profile), and this is with the overclocking settings set to stock speeds(500/1200@1.2v and 650/1550@1.45v). I'm wondering if it's dropping the voltage before it drops the core clock, since this is only happening when I try to slow the card back down.

Yeah, I am getting some crashes with this too. I'm going to stick with ATI Tool for the clock speeds, which has been working okay for me (aside from the temperature monitoring and automatic 3D detection, which I just have disabled).

Hmmmm....

I'll be installing my X1900XT later on tonight. Just got it from the ups man.

For my GT, the memory voltages don't change but the core ones do. Where do you find your 2D/3D settings if you want to disable 2D/3D detection through ATT?

The XTX is the same, it's only the core voltages that change when switching modes. As for the 2D/3D settings, it's kind of non-intuitive: the easist thing to do is start up ATT once(note: don't turn off the hotkey poller), turn on the monitoring graphs(logging clockspeed, memory speed, and VR voltage), and then start up a fullscreen game for a moment. When you come back you can see what clocks and voltages were logged, the high is 3D and the low is 2D. Then restart ATT, let it disable the hotkey poller, and you can then use it to overclock.

Also, make sure you pay attention to the voltage settings, that was a problem for me at first because when you mess with the overclocking settings for the first time, the voltage is still going to be at the 2D voltage. You'll have to bump up the voltage to whatever the 3D default is first, and make sure that voltage is saved with the profile.

Oh, and CP5670, what crashes are you getting? I'm finding as long as I just set ATT to run the card at the max clockspeed all the time so that it never changes settings other than when it loads the first time, I'm not having any crashes.

I just wanted to point out to people that ATT has been updated to 1.2.6.940.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/

Or you can DL from me again, but I caution you to check the above for the latest version first.

Edit updated from .930 to .940

Changes from .930

[F] Fixed bug when manual fan control can not be applied[*] Updated some translation files
[F] Fixed Old I2C Method to be compatible with X1xxx boards in memory voltage control procedure
[+] Added ability to change how ATT will react on "ATI HotKey poller" service. (in General options)[*] Updated Overdrive control procedure. Now you can set any available clocks for OverDrive even beyond the Catalyst limits!
And change GPU Voltage too.
[+] Added option to apply OverDrive settings on startup
[+] Added Portuguese (Brazilian) and Belorussian translations

I tried that version with the X1950XTX. It didn't have Voltage regulation section at all.

Can any of you check how far you can go down with the core voltage at stock speeds? That should let them run quite a bit cooler, depending on how much headroom there is. I'd like to know how much that usually is.

Thx, MrS

In 3D mode? That will just depend on your card. I've seen some claim that they can run stock speeds at around 1.30, but my card needs the full 1.40 to hit 625.

Yes, I was looking for 3D clocks, but values at 500MHz 2D clock would be welcome as well ;)
Setting the card from 1.4V to 1.3V would reduce the power consumption from 110W down to 95W. Nice to have and I guess any further reduction needs somewhat lower clock speeds.
As a side note: nice monitor, Ike! I like mine very much.
