ATi Tool settings

What should i be tweaking with?

Even just slightly OCing with CCC or ATi Tool causes lockups.

I assume i'm going to need additional voltage, but what's safe in that regard?

I just installed the Accelero X2, which at 100% fan speeds, seems to keep things quite cool compared to the stock X1900 cooler.

You're going to have to change your voltages, most likely its at the stock 2d voltage of 1.175V, you'll have to manually change that to the stock 3d voltage of 1.4V
 
You need to set the voltage for xtx speeds @1.425 stock XT is 1.4
Leave everything else alone.

That's what's causing the lock-ups. Also, you have to create a new profile for the settings to stick.

So just touch the VGPU; leave the rest alone?

Is the MVDDC set for 2D in my pic too, or is that fine?

Are you sure about the voltages? I'm using a zalman vf900, and I at xt speeds it runs ok using 1.35v, I thought that was the default 3D voltage. When I manually set it to 1.4v and run the furry cube in Ati Tool, the temps climb like crazy until they eventually level off around 90C.

MVDDC, MVDDQ and VDDCI don't change from 2D to 3D, only VGPU does, so you're good. If your card has BJ11 RAM chips onbard, you can probably get 800 MHz on the RAM w/o having to mess with its voltage - worked for me.
 
Actually most of your problems is having CCC + ATI tool even running at the same time. ATI tool under volts by .25 So setting it to 1.425 in ATI tool would be the stock 3d voltage of the XT's which is 1.4 IIRC the XT and XTX have the same 3d voltage...

I had nothing but problems with ATI Tool in the first place and it hosed up the CCC until I uninstalled CCC and cleared ATI tool out of the registry. If I just used 690/800 in the CCC wth out ATI tool everything works fine if I have ATI tool installed it hosed everything up whether I had CCC installed or not.
 
I can see how having CCC + ATi Tool could be a hassle.

With this ATi Tray Tools i hear people talking about, can i still set up dual displays & eye candy settings with no issues?

If so, i'll uninstall everything & reinstall just the ATi driver + ATi Tool + ATi Tray Tools.
 
You need CCC to use adaptive AA, though...

Just use the 30 mb ATI package and use overdrive. I use ATI Tools cos I have obsessive compulsive disorder and need to constantly be tweaking settings.

BTW, Munky, I'm just stating what the official voltages are. I'm personally able to use 1.4 for XTX speeds. Hope to see if lower the voltage even more will not net me negative results on MY card.
 
I run both CCC and ATI Tools. I use ATI Tools for gpu/memory speed and fan control. In order to not have CCC interfere, you need to disable the ATI Hotkey Services within Windows. Reboot, you'll see that ATI Overdrive is not functioning anymore.

With ATI Tools, I created two profiles for Start-up(2D) and 3D. Reading at other forums, the default 1.425v is not necessary to keep 650/1550 clocks. I actually have my 3D profile voltage set to 1.35v without any issues. Some folks are even running stock speeds at voltages below 1.3v

You don't NEED CCC to have adaptive AA. Ati Tray tools can enable adaptive AA. At least on my X1800 it can.

yes on my x1900 also. It just cant overclock or control the fan speed.

ati tools can overclock, and control fan speends, look at the drop down menu!!!

He means ATI TRAY TOOLS...different from ATI Tool.
