OK now that I'm fully awake, this news plus the fact that apparently the XL's are not o/cing dogs (and if you had the cojones to do a volt mod on the GPU are actually champion overclockers) is pretty impressive. Looks like R520 will a sweet choice for the o/cer for the next little while thanks to ATI putting some seriously fast RAM on their cards.

Nvidia's rumoured 90nm refresh part should be good next spring, too ;) .

Of course, ATI was telling us the X1800XT would be available a couple weeks after the 10/5 launch before, now it's "in November in quantity", so who knows what's next? A few cards in November, quantity in December? What is "quantity" to them? They fill Dells order like other cards in the past?

I'll believe when I see it, a paper launch till cards ship, and a phantom launch till you can buy it multiple places for MSRP or less.

We're really no better or worse off with this card now than we were last month, it's still in "pending" column.

and then twist 'em . . . i know . . .

:D

even Frys' has them on the shelf at MSRP - right next to 7800GTs at MSRP :p

More talk?

What a surprise!

Less talk, more cards. Until then, the spinners from ATi can cork it.

Even as a fence sitter, happy Nvidia and ATI owner, Id appreciate... as Elvis said best, a little less conversation, a little more action please.

Its putting strain on these boards and Video is becoming useless. ATI's apparent closeness to resolving their situation has lifted tensions a bit but I want it back to what it was like :)

1800XLs are in stock at newegg. They have more than 99 on hand doing the cart check.

More talk? Gee, is that what people do on forums?

I always wondered.

They can push as much paper as they want out there. Paper don't accelerate games. Until I see silicon, I'm not interested in listening to a broken record.

Didn't ATi also say they were going to have full availability at launch? Well, here we are a few days later, and the X1800XLs have shown up in limited quantities at a few vendors. X1300s, X1600s, and XT models are still MIA.

I'm going to *SAY* that this sucks, but don't worry, I may not launch the actual sucks for several weeks. Please anticipate it eagerly.

yeah, cause ATI is going to come out and say, "nah, we're not shipping this in volume ever, keep dreaming buddy!"

You guys crack me up with this crap.

They'll ship it in 'volume', whatever the fack that means in concrete numbers, whenever they can actually produce that many.

No, we're better. We know its specs, we know its performance, and we have a rough idea of how it overclocks. There's no more petty speculation threads that turned into all-out flamewars and caused the AT mods to come up with a sticky that it got so bad.

ATI's promise is for a November release on cards. Grant them that; if their release date comes and goes then b!tch all you want...

Ill believe the XT launch avail when I see it. If its within a week of their launch date, thats good enough for me.

Limited quanitied? Hardly. Newegg has HUNDEREDS of them, as well as a Frys, which has many too, in a retail store. Having cards available two days after it was "launched" is pretty good, no matter who you are.

ATi is trying to launch no less than 4 cards, and one motherboard. I would assume thats a little harder than the one card NV did. Which they did very well.

I will be purchasing the x1800xt, probably not on release though just for pricing to drop.
