NVIDIA IS spinning the world+dog that ATI is running into a Platinum Edition situation all over again. Nvidia is wrong this time, as we managed to talk with a senior ATI executive who confirmed that ATI can ship volumes of Radeon X1800XT at its 625/1500 clock speed.

ATI also implied that if it wanted to make extreme fast platinum edition clock that it would be able to push the chips even higher than 625MHz/1500MHz.

The company confirmed that it can and will ship volumes of X1800XT in November and I believe that our US readers should be able to easily buy one for Thanksgiving shopping in quantities. Bear in mind that Radeon X1800XT cards will start appearing on the 10th of November, even before Thanksgiving but those cards might be already sold by pre-order.

The slower X1800XL cards are actually already finished and most of them are either on ships or at the Zoll gate.

Its direct competitors Geforce 7800 GTX, and Geforce 7800 GT powered with SLI Nforce 4 platform are available as we speak, but some are willing to wait for ATI. µ

If this is true it would be good for ATI (and for us), but in all honesty I think they need to produce some X1800XL chips for a while to accumulate enough chips to be fast enough for the X1800XTs. Why else would they need the extra time?

We will have to wait and see if it turns out to be true...

interesting how you guys always link ATi reps to prove your points...LOL!!!! What do you guys expect them to say. It isn't like there hasn't been a pattern of similar things like this the last few generations. we will just have to wait and see....

Quote industry leaders other then ATi or suppliers when they get them...

I mean the crossfire thing has reported last week with quotes from so-called "launch" partners saying they have not received samples yet. However ATi was making launches and promises sometime ago....

Go out and find some Inquirer post...even that would be better ;)

Oh by the way I have proof Duvie is a great guy...Ofcourse the quotes will be from my mother and wife!!!

Good news (if true)! I figured the November delay was for precisely this reason - to not do a paper launch now. ATI X1800XT in November, is that a "Canuck Promise" ??? ;)

If it was true, why would they delay and hurt their reputation and financial situation even more.

ATi has little to no reputation left for high end products being on time and available. That being said, they are capable of redeeming themselves somewhat, and I'm glad they at least got minor volume of x1800XL's out...they had 3-4 BBA x1800XL's available at Fry's today, which is pretty good considering this particular store didn't even have an x800Pro last year until 3-4 months post launch. The XT's are still no where to be found, but we can hope that this time around a promised date from ATi is worth something. A serious volume release could mean competiting prices to the GTX, which is what they really need.

Here's hoping.

Here's a tip: don't preorder it from ATI.com

I was one of the many that trusted ATI and preordered the X850XT in early Dec, and we all remember how that turned out...

You got me on that one....Spaced that....Like a double whammy...An inquirer post and qouting an ATi rep...woohoot...

Proof is in the pudding and if they deliver then next time ppl will count on it....In this industry it is about what did you do last. They deliver here then it goes a long way in fixing that crediibility issue....

Apoppin, are you serious??? I guess you throw so much sh^te out there you are bound to hit the board a bit.....ON ATi R520 they were better then most other times but they have blown it in many areas for a long time....

I wouldn't trust an Nvidia rep on Nvidia PR or commenting on ATi's business afairs...I say proof is in the actions and we will all find out. Finding this article does little for most...

So has the Inq been Accurate in its Predictions about R520?

may i add insult to injury?

the x1800XL is available in quantity - at MSRP . . .

700mhz cards?? Seems to be pure speculation here form 600-700...cannot count this as right...It is so damn vague...

IN quantity???

I see preorders and I see cheap prices when you buy built systems....That was a day ago so what else has changed??? I know newegg has them but threads have suggested they are OVER MSRP.....Also I suspect demand may be a bit low for these cards since MSRP is actually comparable to a better GTX model of the Nvidia line. If it was 50-100 cheaper it may really ramp up demand...

They had plenty of time to get the lower speed chips ready after sooo many delays....I and others only ever talked about the flagship being not avaialble at launch and we were dead on...

ATi exec is a Rep...representative of the company...with the track record of exec in corporations lately I think we can all pretty much agree the are skeptical at best. What is he going to say?? really!!! We wont have enough for ppl to buy so go buy Nvidia cards if you have to have one for the holiday season?? i mean come on....

Who cares if they correct them. The fact is first articles were not right. I am just saying when your source is a company rep then what do you expect they will say when they have already delayed it numerous times...taken financial hits this year ...and did a paper laucnh on its flagship card. They have the performance crown in my eyes, but since you cannot buy it it doesn't help them all that much( for pretty much most of the 4th quarter)...

You can believe them....I find the most accurate they are is within a few days of something actually happening...by then we can just see for ourselves...

Oh by the way like I mentioned ,I dont think it was their fault most of the time they had incorrect articles....That was likely due to sources in ATi they were quoting...we see how far that got them most of the time...Never actually new a correct clock speed...pipelines even seemed speculative down to the wire...avaiablility and launches have been less then bankable....

The inquirer is basically a rumor mill, everyone knows this and you quoting a bunch of articles doesn't change the fact. ATi has online availibility of their x1800xls already so that's a non issue. They're not going to release correct information on pipelines and have nVidia counter that with a big marketing campaign about 24 being greater than 16, etc.

OK!!! I never said they wouldn't....Actually I always thought they would be available at launch or Oct11th as per the inquirer's oct 6th post. The XT and flagship is what many of us are watching with a keen eye...It only has to do with the x850XT PE of the last generation...they nail this and that becomes a distant memory, IMO....

I guess they are at some of the local Fryes stiores...that is pretty good...If they were a bit cheaper it would be nice....Even their MSRP is about 50-100 too high compared to what they need to be priced against...a 7800GT

i do

i care that a company says "this is FIRST INFO and is a RUMOUR" then takes the time to either debunk or support what they BELIEVE.

theInq specializes in getting news FIRST . . . then they usually follow up.

i see - besides the "usual" - from what you post here -your sources aren't nearly as good :p

I dont play the rumor mill... I have no sources but for many years on this board I have seen inquirer hit and miss and realise itis best not to count on what they say and just wait and see the numbers for yourself. I dont buy anything before reviews and then even then I dont usually buy first week....So I dont need rumors...i wait for facts
