I am looking for a video card currently, it seems like ATI has taken the lead, serves me right for waiting before goin' in for that Geforce MX400 ;)

Ok, so here are the specifics, my budget is 160$ and I am looking for a good ATI card which will give me my humbling money's worth ;) however I am not familiar with the ATI cards, so I will appreciate it if anyone can recommend a good one for me, or the things which I should look for b'fore buying it

BTW, I got a 4x interface so no doubt it will be bottlenecked if the card is 8x.....

BTW I got an AthlonXP rig

Thanx for ur help,

not sure how much the new cards will cost, but if you can afford a little more then go for the radeon 9500 pro

From what I just checked out, and to fit your max spending price the Ti4200 is the only one that shows up that is below $160. Newegg has one from PNY for $200.00 and another I saw from ATi for $205 but out of stock.

Googlegear.com has a 9500Pro for $177 which is above your price range but better than Ti4200. 9500Pro

If you can get an additional $20 to throw down, then the Radeon 9500 Pro will server you well for years to come. It can play essentially all current games with high levels of anisitropic filtering and FSAA. It should be able to play future games quite well, even if you are forced to disable some of the eye candy.

Even if you buy an 8x card your 4x AGP won't slow it down at all. At least not in the near future.

The 9500 non-pro 128mb should fit your budget perfectly. It's worth the extra ~$20 for the pro version tho.

Yup, I'd agree too with either the 9500 128mb or the 9500 Pro. For the price difference, I'd go with the 9500 Pro. Also, like mentioned earlier, the 4x connection won't be a bottleneck. Atleast, not anytime in the near future. 8x is mainly for marketing, nothing more.

Wow!, not even 24 hrs passed and it's buried deep

Ok, seems like he 9500pro's the way to go, thanx for your replies, I was afraid I might have to change my 4x mobo, but it seems it won't have much of a diff rite now

Again thanx,
