Ah....ok guys:

ATi still warrants a 3 year warrantee if the product was purchased prior august 2005. Anything after will just receive only the one year. So for those guys who bought their ATi products (inlcuding me) before the revision, is still having that 3 year gaurantee....WHICH IS STILL GOOD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

well they can't change that contract unilaterally.

nVidia having a different business model than ATI doesn't have anything to do with this Morph.

I ask you, as I asked Ronnn, in your ATI pimpin' mind, how does ATI drastically cutting the warranty on a product we know taped out at least three times over the course of a calendar year instill confidence in you?

I say it means either:
A. They are falling behind financially

B. They know returns will be high because their testing has told them so, and they want to take the money and run.

You tell me what else it could mean? Do you think they thought their customers were angry about their previously good warranty?

LOL

as for B, solid state electronics generally work for years or don't work at all. i don't really think the chip itself is an issue.

Read your warranty. Some "lifetime" warrantys are "product lifetime". That means the warranty lasts as long as the card is being produced.

this point seems to be lost on deaf ears here.

I hope you're right, but it is a bit spooky they've dumped the warranty for the launch of this much delayed, remade chip.

Well, modempower "LMAO" and I thought it was funny. You didn't answer the question though did you?

You're sort of like that monkey on "The Family Guy"- he points the finger, but he never really explains why?

😉

Yes we did answer your question. Need it spelled out. Okay here goes - if you want an ati based card with a 3 year warranty - they are available. If you want alternative reasons why ati may have done this - besides your (are they jocular this time?) reasons, maybe ati wants to downsize their retail card selling business and move more over to their manufacturers. Maybe they feel that there is a cost saving component to having a shorter warranty that they can pass on to their customers.

The answer to your question has already been given by Ronnn. They are cutting costs which can then be passed onto the consumer in the form of lower prices. I think we all agree that video cards don't fail over time anyways. I'd rather save 5-10% off the price of the card with a shorter warranty.

LOL- yeah right! They're cutting their warranty costs to pass the savings on to the consumer!

LMFAO!

Anyone else here believe the company that paid damages for insider trading violations this year, and has a multitude of stock fraud cases pending against them is slashing their warranty so they can cut prices to their beloved customers?!??!?!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! I reiterate:
ATI could send a monkey in a red vest to crap on your dinner table, and you would post it was a great gift!

This is something that will make me much more hesitant to buy an ATi made or based card. The reason is I never liked buying a card from their 3rd party manufacturers since most seem pretty flakey and liked sticking to BB ATi cards for their reliable warranty service (I utilized it once for the X800XT PE). Now that they've cut it down to 1 year, I will definitely factor that in when making the decision between an ATi and nV card.

You must be in defensive mode rollo, I wasnt laughing at you. I thought your statement was funny......... and I have no clue what question I didnt answer you were refering to. I was laughing at your statement. I didnt see a question?
