This is the new price for 1900GT's, as ATI, or AMD, readies for the rollout of 1950XT. For $30 more, you can easily find a 7900GT, which beats 1900GT in most benches. If you can spend $290-300, you will find a X1900XT, which will in turn kill annihilate 7900GT's. Hopefully 7900GTX will follow suit and drop below $350.

Show me another store with the same price with cards in stock on any x1900GT. Then show me your closest price on a Built by ATi full retail x1900GT. Then go read the threads where people are possibly unlocking the extra four pipes on these.

Worse than a X1800XT 256MB, but still the price will make up the difference.
I'd say this is a warm deal at best, because you can snag a retail X1800XT 256MB for only $8 more or so. Tax ymmv.

The keyword being "possibly," and flashing the bios automatically voids the warranty. I don't owe my allegiance to either ATI or nvidia, although my last 3 cards were ATI (and the 3 before those were nvidia); but the current X1900 lineup leaves something to be desired -- X1900GT is no match for 7900GT according to most reviews; X1900XT matches 7900GTX in performance, if you don't mind the extra heat/noise/power requirement. Plus Crossfire still lags behind SLI in maturity. If I must buy ATI (or should I say AMD now), I'd rather spend the extra $80 to get an 1900XT, which has a better cooler, extra 256mb, higher clocks, and 4 extra pipes for sure.

ATI has a "quad" shader architecture with 4x shaders per pipeline. So the X1900XT etc. has 48 pixel shaders and 16 pipelines. The GT has 36 shaders and 12 pipelines.
Also, although ATI has dropped prices, this is still a good deal on the GT, the Sapphire version of which is supposed to retail at $230 (there's really no difference between Sapphire and Built By ATI cards)

However, I don't see why you'd spend $200 on a GT when you can get an X1900 AIW from a reputable store for $225 which includes 16 pipelines stock, o/c's easily to GT core/mem speeds, and includes VIVO + TV tuning + remote control + a $100 software package (Adobe Photoshop Elements + Adobe Premiere Elements). I'd rather gamble on overclocking the AIW than unlocking the cores in a GT, but that's just me.

I know this is hard for some of you to grasp, but try and stay with me here ... there is a thing that some of us have called a budget. Say it with me, budget. No direct slam on you jlin101...
no offense taken. We ALL have a budget, high or low; although with video games costing $40-50 a pop, $20-30 is probably not going to break one's piggy bank. At $230, a 7900GT would be a better choice than a $200 1900GT, based on various reviews, unless one is a diehard ATI fan.

My friend just got this card to replace his X850XT, I still would go with a 7900GT, I'm not sure how well the X1900GT's overclock though.
