$20 bucks isn't much of a difference and the GTX started off for more and has been out for awhile for some price droppage. This thing wasn't even suppose to be buyable for 2 more months.

As for performing better... uhhh, not a single review has shown the 7800 outperforming the x1800 except in Doom 3 =/ They are very close in performance with the x1800 having a few extra FPS on every game except Doom 3.

Ok, to correct this little bit of misunderstanding. There is more than one x1800 model. This one is a 256 megabyte XL model, which underperforms the 7800*GT*. GT cards are now in the low $300 range after rebate, and in fact can be had from Dell for $285-ish if you score the 25% off SBE coupon on e-bay.

The one you're thinking about, the 512 megabyte XT model, which will not be available any time soon. Pricing on that model is open for speculation. That one arguably outperforms the reference clocked GTX models. The factory overclock models from reputable makers such as Asus, BFG et al are a less clear loss.

That being said, I'm glad NE is carrying an X1* product.

they can be found at MSRP. its not ATis fault that dell isnt distributing these things at a lower cost

both cards have the same MSRPs and both could be found at MSRP at launch, the discounts simply depend on the reseller

Isn't it strange how this card looks so much like an Nvidia card? Look at the heatsink/fan, memory layout and even how long the card is compared to the previous generation.

Also, look at the difference between the card sold at Newegg and the one sold at Monarch. They are both the same model and "built by ATI".

If it is priced nearer to the GF 7800GT, like around $400, it would be decent. But if you're an ATi fan, it's your money.

Yeah, Monarch is using a picture of the double slot X1800XT card while Newegg has the correct picture of the single slot X1800XL. You can compare pictures of the cards to review sites.

ATI is losing this battle. I have switched to Nvidia permanently unless ATI can perform miracles. I am glad I did

Check my signature (P4 Got game). It is an Evga 7800GTX with an NV5 attatched running at 500/1300. I paid $440 from an AT trader here. Amazing video card.

Was at frys earlier here in garland texas and they had them in stock too for $ was shocked 449.00. I think 7800gt is better card overall though it does great in opengl games and runs about same in all others as the ati x800xl and 100 bucks cheaper
