Was reading an article claiming ATI has possibly "dumbed" down the full Radeon DDR to VE pricing so that they can fill out their markteting price points by crippling the full Radeon features.
All you have to do to "enhance" your Radeon VE into a is through a simple Registry hack consisting of one line. Is this true? Has anyone done this?
The article I read is rather confusing as it says that the VE
<< ships with no "HyperZ" functionality and slower memory and GPU. However, hackers have discovered that the disabled features can be enabled by adding a single Registry key." >>
I'm not exactly sure what they are saying here. Does adding the registry key "re-enable" features disabled by the VE that are in the full Radeon excepting for the memory and GPU differences? The article doesn't really say.
This is the first time i've heard of this so take it easy on me if this info has been posted before. I also did a quick search and found nothing on the forums pertaining to this.
